What to do in 1 day?

Make the most of your visit to the city with this tour of its most iconic places.

Morning

Start the day in the city center. The church of La Ermita, built nearly a century ago, will be the first stop on your tour. From there, you’ll find the River Boulevard.

Feel free to walk along it linearly or take a small detour to Plaza de Cayzedo and then to the La Merced archaeological complex.

If you decide to detour, keep in mind that at any moment, with just a few steps, you’ll find yourself back on the Boulevard.

During this walk, you’ll see vendors selling chontaduro and guarapo. Don’t miss the chance to taste these delights rooted in the city’s culture.

Before leaving the city center, visit the Jairo Varela Plaza, a tribute to the creator of Grupo Niche. There you’ll see a series of trumpets forming the orchestra’s name, and if you stand right under this giant instrument, you’ll hear the songs that immortalized the group. Don’t hesitate to dance.

Afternoon

After a traditional lunch, continue exploring Cali by visiting the Cat of the River Monument, a work by painter and sculptor Hernando Tejada. Here you’ll find the cat’s brides, a series of figures created by local artists. Take the opportunity to buy souvenirs and enjoy a delicious dessert.

After visiting this city essential, you’ll be ready to walk to El Peñón Park, where with some luck, you’ll see works exhibited by various artists. Then, stroll through the streets of this neighborhood with a unique aura.

End the afternoon by crossing into the San Antonio neighborhood, one of the oldest and most beautiful in the city, which offers a wide range of gastronomic options. Climb the hill to admire its old church and then prepare to enjoy the breeze and the sunset with a privileged view.

Evening

By now, you will have been immersed in the city and what it has to offer, so you’ll be ready to end the day on a high note. Dress up and prepare to graduate in Cali culture.

There are various options for experiencing a night of salsa and partying in Cali. It all depends on the time you’ve planned for your visit.

If you came with little planning, we recommend going to salsa bars that are must-visits, like La Topa Tolondra or Zaperoco.

If, on the other hand, you have more time to plan your visit, you can take advantage of booking and attending shows like Delirio or Ensálsate, which are held once a month, or at Mulato Cabaret.
